Fort Point Associates was part of a joint venture providing strategic environmental planning and permitting services for the entire Central Artery/Tunnel project for the former Massachusetts Highway Department. Representing one of the largest public works projects in the nation, this project required the acquisition of approximately 700 federal, state, and local approvals over a 13-year timeframe. FPA was responsible for developing a permit strategy and identifying various issues related to the use of public tidelands, navigation, wetlands and materials disposal. While FPA had project wide responsibility, it closely managed the controversial Charles River Crossing and Spectacle Island components of the project.
